Vermeer Inspired Self-Portrait

Age: 5th Grade

While students read Chasing Vermeer in their Language Arts classes, artists also studied the work of Johannes Vermeer, known for his portrayal of domestic Dutch life. His emphasis on value led us to another artist named Andrei Zandorine. Students learned each artists' biography and compared and contrasted their lives with a Venn Diagram. Students created their own value charts and brainstormed activities they like to do while they're in their homes.
